《大树之歌》是美国作曲家约翰．威廉士在2000年提献给夏汉的最新作品。这一首长约18分钟，只有单一乐章且带有幻想曲风格的作品创作灵感来自于波士顿大众公园里的中国红杉木，威廉士让小提琴独奏出完全西方的音乐语法，但是乐团部分却带有浓浓的东方风格，把两者巧妙地融合在一起。
小提琴协奏曲是威廉士1974年到76年间的作品。威廉士一向以创作电影音乐闻名，在帕尔曼的演奏下，威廉士1993年为电影《辛德勒名单》创作的配乐很快就成为家喻户晓的作品。在夏汉重新诠释下，重现出这部黑白电影中的沉痛与伤感。
